I was extremely envious, and as fate should have it I was relieved of my duties a week later. I desperately wanted to educate myself how to become a freelance writer because it would help my financial struggles so much. I had so much time to do my investigation since I didn’t have a job to go to, so I browsed the internet looking for information. I was deeply in financial difficulties and I was ready to lose everything I had worked for. So I began looking for work and bidding on anything I could see. With no surprise I just wasn’t receiving any work, I didn’t believe it would be that hard since I could already read and write fairly well.

I had already done the most difficult thing. I took action, now I only needed to increase my skill and learn the system. I went on to look for all the writing work that I could locate. It might be strange but the majority of freelancers trying to get into the industry with no training or without a system will not get this far. The time had come where I needed to seek advice from my friend; I asked him some fairly private information about the systems he implemented etc.  The information he gave me was brilliant and he also offered his advice on certain aspects.

Bryan Ellis points to the example of websites like HubPages, Squidoo, Google Knol, etc. “Each of these services allows any person to write an article or create other type of content, and then allows the author to share in the revenue generated on that page. It’s almost as if you’re renting retail space in a highly desirable shopping district, only you get the benefit of a ‘great address’ in the form of a well-known domain host like Google.com but without paying a single penny in rental fees. It’s a win-win scenario.”

I must admit: Its easy to see the parallels. For example, if you’re the owner of a desirable property, its desirability is (in a business context) largely due to its being in a location that is of interest to others. Similarly, ownership of a desirable domain name is valuable for the same reasons. Regardless of the type of asset, you can sell or lease or use any number of strategies to turn the assets into cash.

There are plenty of internet gurus that will tell you the best form of advertising is through ezine ads. You may also have heard that Google AdWords and other pay per click search engines are one of the best advertising methods. When it comes to advertising your site, article writing and submission beats ezine ads and Google AdWords anytime.

The advantage of article submission is trust. Suppose you subscribe to an ezine in the form of an email newsletter. You’ve just sat down at your PC, coffee in hand, to read your email. There in your inbox is an email from a favorite ezine that you love to read.

Opening the newsletter, you find a sponsors ad along with a couple of ezine ads and two great looking articles. Sipping your coffee, one of the articles catches your attention. You read the article, and you were right. It’s a great article.

Underneath the article the author places his biography and a link to his website. You find that there is a link to a free report by the author containing relevant information on the article’s topic. Then you notice that right below that there’s a sponsor’s link in an ezine ad. The sponsor’s link is for a different web site, but it also offers a free report about the same topic.

You could conceivably click on both links. But if you could only click one, which would you choose: the one by the author of the great article you just read or the one in the ezine ad?

You wouldn’t be alone if you clicked on the one from the author of the article you just read. Most people would, wouldn’t they?

Now suppose you’re surfing around on the web. You do a Google search on a topic you’re interested in, and you follow a link to a great article with some excellent advice on the topic. Again you are given a choice of the author’s website or a link to a free report that includes more information. Next to it are five Google Ads on the same subject. As sometimes happens, they are both offering free reports about the same subject.

You would still be most likely to click on the author’s link at the bottom of the article, though, wouldn’t you?

Article submission beats ezine ads and Google AdWords because you establish a relationship and build trust with your reader. You are without doubt the expert. After all, you wrote the article. And there is no way a directory or ezine publisher would publish the article if they thought you didn’t know what you were talking about, right?

Years ago, I used to do direct sales in people’s homes. I learned that one of the first things you need to do is the “warm up. You’ve just entered someone’s home, they don’t know who you are as a person, and they know you’re going to be trying to get money from them before you leave.

If you don’t establish rapport quickly, it’s difficult to overcome people’s natural sales resistance. In direct sales in the home, you do that by talking a little with people before you begin your sales presentation. Once they get to know you a little, the more they will relax.

Most people can’t do sales because they remain the “enemy,” the horrible sales person who wants to sell them something. Now let’s be honest with ourselves here, most people hate a sales person!

Just think how great it would be to warm up to thousands of people easily and not just a few people at a time. Instead of trying to sell them something, Imagine if you could educate them to solve their problems which would be of more benefit to them. And isn’t that completely different?

Submitting articles enables you to do this, and on a massive scale. If you submit many articles to article submission sites and article directories, many will be published on web sites and in ezines around the Internet. People will read your articles and warm up to you. By solving their problems you keep them coming back for more.

With Google AdWords it is very difficult to achieve that. You don’t have long to attract visitors and keep them, maybe a few lines and about 10 seconds on average to grab their attention and get them to click. It’s also hard to achieve that with ezine ads. The problem with solo ezine ads is that everyone knows they are advertisements.

Article submission is the secret. Writing and submitting articles is relatively easy. Just write very helpful articles on your topic and link to your web site. A solid reputation and trust can be built through article writing and submission. There is no doubt that trust is gained through your article submission. Don’t forget when you submit articles that are good quality with sound advice, you build up a steady flow of people visiting your site that respect and value your opinion, that are there to receive more information and find out if there is anything else you can do to help them.

As it is that’s a great benefit, but it gets a lot better than that. Article submission is usually free, or low cost if you use an article submission service. Ezine ads and Google AdWords can be very expensive, and it is unlikely you could ever get traffic coming to your site as open to listening to you and trusting you as they will be from an article submission.

And that is why article writing and submission is far better than ezine ads and google adwords.

Something you should always do is having your main keyword in the Article Title.
